When we started doing our dog trainer certification courses in January, 2017, we actually began doing them solely in humane societies and animal shelters. We have trained over 200 dogs from these shelters, and many of the untrained dogs will have multiple holds on them during that four-day period.
We know that a huge percentage of dogs that are returned to shelters and humane societies are because the animal was not trained. When dogs in shelters have some basic behaviors, it is a fact that there is a better chance of the animal being adopted.
Joel works with the staff and over a four day period, will certify up to eight employees. They receive the JSDT1 Dog Trainer Certification, but the real takeaway is that the untrained dogs from our course that Joel selects, become trained dogs.
